Work on PunxsyPage.com has started. Punxsy Page is a community news website that allows Punxsutawney area residents to post classifieds and messages for free. Punxsy Page also provides area event listings, and a directory of services.

The current work can be found at http://punxsypage.farvista.net.

The long-term goal for the site is to create a sort of small-town version of http://www.craigslist.org, a highly successful website that allows residents of major metro areas around the country to post virtually anything for free.

In order to maintain the local slant of Punxsy Page, fees will be assessed for postings made by folks outside a 50-mile radius of Punxsutawney, PA.

Some business advertising requirements will also be in place by the time the site officially opens.

Registration will be free, and free registrants will be allowed up to five free postings per month. Additional fees will be applied to discourage wasteful and unnecessary postings.

Area residents are invited to suggest upcoming events for the calendar.
